UNIBWM

The University of the Bundeswehr Munich (UniBw M), substantially sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Defence, is a young and modern university.  It offers a broad spectrum of opportunities for scientific work and cooperation, ranging from basic research to applied research and development projects. Due to its size and technological resources, the UniBw M ensures ideal conditions for excellent and sustainable research on an international level.
It conducts not only research in engineering and natural sciences but also social and economic sciences and the humanities, covering a wide range of topics that are of great societal relevance, like "Safety in Technology and Society". The UniBw M drives innovation and
represents an important factor for national and regional development.

The Research Institute CODE (RI CODE) conducts basic and application-oriented research as well as technology development in the fields of cyber defence, smart data, and quantum technology.
It is one of the largest research institutes in these research fields in Germany.
Its goal is to research and develop technical innovations and concepts for the protection of data, software, and systems in an interdisciplinary manner. Hence, the RI CODE bundles scientific expertise and works closely with partners from the Bundeswehr, public authorities, research, and industry. An important emphasis at the RI CODE is on education and training, e.g. master's degree program in cybersecurity.

Role in Piqaso

Our activities in the PiQASO project are led by two research labs: Privacy and Applied Cryptography (PACY) lab and Quantum Safe and Advanced Cryptography (QuSAC) lab.
Our researchers contribute to the specification of PQC services and abstractions enabling quantum-safe encryption, signing, authentication, authorization for PiQASO's PQC-as-a-Service architecture.
Specifically, we are working on the design of post-quantum secure public key encryption and associated key management approaches, leveraging NIST standards, to support long-term data encryption-at-rest operations.
