BIBA

BIBA – Bremer Institut für Produktion und Logistik is a leading research institute specializing in engineering science. Established in 1981 as one of the first affiliated institutes of the University of Bremen, BIBA is now among the largest research facilities in the federal state of Bremen. The institute is organized into two divisions:

- The institute is organized into two divisions:Intelligent Production and Logistics Systems, led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Freitag.
- ICT Applications for Production, led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus-Dieter Thoben.

BIBA conducts both fundamental and applied research, including contract research atnational and international levels, focusing on key industries such as logistics, automotive, aviation, and wind energy.

Role in Piqaso

In the PIQASO project, BIBA will provide a comprehensive demonstration scenario—asafeguarding aviation testing infrastructure. This will showcase how Distributed Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing in aerospace can benefit from secure communication channelsreinforced by post-quantum cryptography (PQC), ensuring real-time responsiveness (lessthan 100 ms) and protecting intellectual property.

Through these advancements, PIQASO aims to pave the way for quantum-secure criticalsystems, strengthening trust and resilience in a rapidly changing technological landscape.
